Photo Journal: Mementos of war

A ceramic warmer using hot water, pieces of board game using military ranks, similar to the board game Stratego, and other goods which were used during World War II are seen on display at Shinagawa Historical Museum in Tokyo's Shinagawa Ward on Aug 14, 2018. The display has been set up in line with a series of lectures from Aug. 14 to 19 to pass on information about the experiences of Japanese during the Pacific War, including the evacuation of schoolchildren and Japanese colonization of Manchuria and Japan's move into Inner Mongolia. Ceramic warmers were created to replace metal ones under government policy, as metal was put toward making weapons. (Mainichi)
