FUJIKAWAGUCHIKO, Yamanashi -- Prime Minister Shinzo Abe played golf at a course here on Aug. 16 with former prime ministers Yoshiro Mori and Junichiro Koizumi, Deputy Prime Minister Taro Aso and other politicians.

Abe went around the course with Koizumi, Aso -- also a previous prime minister -- and economic revitalization minister Toshimitsu Motegi for about five hours from 7:30 a.m.

After they finished playing the final hole, a reporter said, "Prime Minister! How was your play?" When Abe was about to reply, Koizumi smiled and said, "Everyone's 'prime minister.' I can't stop turning around. Use names!" After observing the exchange, Abe said with a smile, "It felt good to play today."

Abe began his summer vacation at his retreat in the village of Narusawa, Yamanashi Prefecture, on the evening of Aug. 15.
