YOKOHAMA -- A former nurse under arrest on suspicion of fatally poisoning two elderly inpatients at a hospital here where she worked was hit with a new arrest warrant on Aug. 18 over the death of another victim, police said.
The new arrest warrant accuses Ayumi Kuboki, 31, a former nurse at Oguchi Hospital in Yokohama (currently Yokohama Hajime Hospital), of murdering Asae Okitsu, 78, by administering to her a disinfectant containing a surface tension-lowering surfactant in mid-September 2016.
Okitsu died on Sept. 16. Kuboki admitted to the allegations during questioning, according to the prefectural police.
Traces of a surface-active agent were detected in the victim's blood samples remaining at the hospital.
Kuboki is under arrest on suspicion of murdering Sozo Nishikawa, 88, and Nobuo Yamaki, 88, at the hospital in September 2016.
