Photo Journal: Flower power

Visitors enjoy cosmos flowers in full bloom at Hamarikyu Gardens in Tokyo's Chuo Ward on Aug. 23, 2018. About 150,000 of the plants occupy roughly 1,500 square meters of the site surrounded by skyscrapers. According to Hamarikyu Gardens' service center, the growth of the cosmoses was delayed by about two weeks compared to average due to the intense heat this summer. The flowers can be enjoyed until around the middle of September. Mitsuko Takeda, 68, a resident of Kawaguchi, Saitama Prefecture, who visited the gardens with her friend, said, "I came here after watching the cosmoses blooming on TV. The colorful flowers are beautiful." (Mainichi)
