Japan finished with a time of 38.16 seconds to win gold in the event for the first time in 20 years following its winning performance at the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok. Ryota Yamagata, who won a bronze medal in the 100-meter race, ran the first leg while Shuhei Tada ran the second. China, which had been looking for its third consecutive victory in the event, finished third with a time of 38.89 seconds, behind Indonesia. Japan had a huge lead over the other runners, but was unable to break the Asian Games record of 37.99, which was achieved by China at the previous games. (Mainichi)
