Autumn kochia leaves are seen at their most colorful at the Hitachi Seaside Park in the city of Hitachinaka, Ibaraki Prefecture, in eastern Japan, in this recent photo. The plants blanket the hills here, impressing visitors with the stark contrast between their pink color and the blue sky. There are about 32,000 kochias in the 1.9-hectare field here. According to the park, the leaves began to turn color several days later than usual due to higher temperatures this year. The kochias are expected to stay at peak pink until around Oct. 24, 2018.
