Photo Journal: Cool cop

A Humboldt penguin named "Yon-chan" wears a sash proclaiming that she is the police station chief for a day in this recent photo taken at Shimoda Aquarium in the city of Shimoda in the central Japan prefecture of Shizuoka. The outgoing penguin was trained by zookeepers for two weeks to get used to wearing the sash ahead of her official appointment as police chief at Shizuoka Prefectural Police's Shimoda Police Station on Jan. 10, 2019. The day is designated "Dial 110 day" to promote the proper use of emergency calls to police. At the Jan 10 event at the aquarium, visitors can take photos with the penguin.
