People see the frozen Fukuroda Falls lit up after dark on Jan. 11, 2019 in the town of Daigo, Ibaraki Prefecture, northeast of Tokyo. The four-segment waterfall is known as one of Japan's three famous waterfalls alongside the Kegon Falls in the city of Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture, north of Tokyo, and the Nachi Falls in the western Japan prefecture of Wakayama. The Fukuroda Falls have a vertical drop of 120 meters and a maximum width of 73 meters. According to the falls' administrative office, roughly 70 percent of the waterfall surface has been frozen due to low temperatures from the beginning of 2019. The falls are being lit up until 7 p.m. through Jan. 31.
