Tennis: Nishikori climbs 2 places in ATP world rankings

TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Japanese tennis player Kei Nishikori climbed two places to seventh in Monday's ATP rankings after he retired against Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.

Djokovic, who went on to beat second-ranked Rafael Nadal to win a record seventh title in Melbourne on Sunday night, remained at the top of the men's tennis rankings, while Federer dropped from No. 3 to No. 6.

Also for Japan, Yoshihito Nishioka moved up three notches to 66th and Taro Daniel's rank improved from 82nd to 69th.
