Daffodil flowers signal the coming of spring at Mother Farm in the city of Futtsu, Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo, in this recent photo. The farm started to plant daffodils about 20 years ago and now there are roughly 100,000 of the plants spread over several areas. This season the flowers began to bloom in early December, about two weeks ahead of average, due to the warm winter. Mizuki Teramoto, a 21-year-old university student visiting from Tokyo, said, "The sweet and fresh smells are soothing." The flowers can be enjoyed until mid-February. For inquiries, call the farm on 0439-37-3211 in Japanese.
