KOBE (Kyodo) -- Three people were found dead in a fire at an apartment house in the western Japan prefecture of Hyogo on Monday night, police said.

Firefighters received an emergency call at around 11:10 p.m. about the fire in Nishinomiya. The blaze was extinguished about one hour later.

The fire apparently broke out on the third floor of the three-story building, where the three -- a man in his 90s, his wife in her 80s and their son in his 50s -- had lived.
