This illustration shows the navy blue exterior design of a long-distance sightseeing train that West Japan Railway Co. (JR West) will begin operating in the spring of next year. JR West released the image on March 19, 2019, and announced that the six-car train would be called the "West Express Ginga." The Ginga, which means galaxy in Japanese, is planned to run westward as a special sightseeing train from Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe regions to areas along the Sanyo, Sanin and other lines. JR West intends to offer cheaper fares for the new train compared to the luxury sleeper train "Twilight Express Mizukaze," which started operations in 2017.
