TOKYO (Kyodo) -- The number of visitors to Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea amusement parks reached a record 32.56 million in fiscal 2018 ended March 31, operator Oriental Land Co. said Monday.

The number of visitors increased 8.2 percent from a year before and broke the previous record of 31.38 million in fiscal 2014 when events featuring the hit film "Frozen" drew visitors to the parks.

During the just-ended fiscal year, Tokyo Disneyland's 35th anniversary, special celebration events helped attract more visitors than initially predicted, Oriental Land said.

The neighboring theme park DisneySea opened in 2001 is set to introduce a new attraction in 2019.
