Japan Photo Journal: Arashi fanfare soars to new heights

(Mainichi/Yuki Miyatake)

Satoshi Ohno, leader of the all-male Japanese pop band Arashi, and fellow member Jun Matsumoto (in Hawaiian shirts in center of back row) and Japan Airlines Co. staff fly paper planes in front of a JAL aircraft painted with photos of all five members of the group, at Narita International Airport in the city of Narita, Chiba Prefecture, on May 22, 2019. The two expressed their hopes that passengers will be able to "make more wonderful memories" by flying on the aircraft, during an event to celebrate the plane's unveiling. "Arashi Hawaii Jet" is to carry passengers from Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka to Honolulu via Narita airport, Centrair International Airport and Kansai International Airport, respectively -- until the end of December 2020 when the band will suspend their activities.
