A man dives into mud to score a try during a "rice field rugby" game in the city of Ryugasaki, Ibaraki Prefecture, northeast of Tokyo, on June 8, 2019. A local group of young entrepreneurs, called Junior Chamber International Ryugasaki, organized the tournament to liven up the local community, in collaboration with Ryutsu Keizai University Rugby Club based in the city, before planting rice in the fields. A total of 16 teams, consisting of four players each, participated in the unusual rugby event, the first of its kind in the prefecture, according to the club. Kazushi Saito, 27, a member of this year's winning team and a former university player who scored six tries in the competition, commented, "It was hard to run in the mud but I managed to contribute to our team's victory," he said.
