Japan Photo Journal: Chiming the knot

(Mainichi/Takashi Nakamura)

Wind chimes are seen hanging on wooden frames covering an approximately 10-meter path at Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine in the city of Kawagoe, Saitama Prefecture, north of Tokyo, in this recent photo. The shrine is known for enshrining the god of marriage and annually holds the summer event to display the traditional craftworks. Many couples and people searching for an ideal partner enjoy a total of some 2,300 glass wind chimes made by craftspeople that are on display at the site. The event will run until Sept. 8, 2019, and is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
