NAGOYA -- Former sekiwake Aminishiki said he is set to retire from sumo after injuring his right knee.

"I made up my mind after my chance of gaining more wins than losses (in the current tournament) and remaining in the juryo division (second-tier professional division) ended. I have no regrets," the 40-year-old wrestler told reporters in Nagoya, central Japan, on July 16.

Aminishiki, the oldest professional sumo wrestler, injured his right knee on the second day of the ongoing Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament and has been absent from the ring since the third day.
