The Nippara Limestone Cave in Okutama, Tokyo, one of the largest caves in the Kanto region, is seen lit up in different colors on Aug. 21 as tourists venture through the cool cavern. With a temperature inside of about 11 degrees Celsius, the cave is designated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government as a natural monument. A specially lit path for visitors measures some 800 meters long. Following the route leads from a narrow passage to a chamber measuring up to around 50 meters high. A visitor said to the Mainichi Shimbun, "I was surprised by how high and wide the cave is inside. It feels cool and refreshing here."
