KISARAZU, Chiba -- A fire broke out at a hotel here early on Sept. 9, sparking the evacuation of about 300 people, after a typhoon resulted in a power cut at the facility.

The Ryugujo Spa Hotel Mikazuki, located in the city of Kisarazu southeast of Tokyo, made an emergency call at about 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 9, saying a fire had broken out.

Ten emergency vehicles including fire engines were dispatched to the scene, and they were continuing to fight the fire past midday.

According to local firefighters and other sources, the fire broke out near the machinery room on the second floor of the five-story spa facility, filling the area with smoke. There were about 300 guests and other people in a restaurant on the fifth floor, but they were safely evacuated and no one was injured.

The hotel had lost power after being hit by powerful Typhoon Faxai, and had switched to emergency generators for power.
