KOFU -- Yamanashi Prefectural Police on Sept. 30 released a photograph of Misaki Ogura, a 7-year-old girl who went missing at a campsite in Yamanashi Prefecture, west of Tokyo, earlier this month.
The move comes as police and other authorities have been unable to locate Misaki more than a week after she disappeared from the Tsubakiso auto campsite in the village of Doshi on Sept. 21.
Prefectural police and other rescuers have conducted a broad search of the area for the first-grader and queried local residents, but there is still no clue as to her whereabouts.
According to Otsuki Police Station, Misaki, from Narita, Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo, arrived at the campground on Sept. 21 with her mother, elder sister and friends -- all in a group of about 30 people made up of seven families.
At around 3:40 p.m. that day, Misaki followed friends heading to a nearby stream, but she was not among them when they returned about 20 minutes later.
Misaki is about 125 centimeters tall and slender. She was wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, jeans, and green sneakers.
