BEIJING (Kyodo) -- Beijing's two international airports will be closed for five and a half hours from 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday while the city celebrates the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
Both Beijing Capital International Airport and Beijing Daxing International Airport will remain closed until 2 p.m., said an airport employee.
Beijing Capital International Airport is considered the world's second busiest, with more than 100 million passengers in 2018. Beijing Daxing International Airport, which opened just last week, is expected to help ease congestion but currently only handles domestic flights.
Meanwhile, massive traffic control measures will be implemented in downtown Beijing where a large-scale military parade is expected to take place along Chang'an Avenue, the capital's major thoroughfare.
