TOKYO -- The kimono fashion brand of X Japan rock star Yoshiki was featured in the nation's largest fashion festival, held in the capital's Shibuya Ward on Oct. 14.

The legendary musician's "Yoshikimono" lineup was the first to appear on stage in Tokyo Collection, the core event of Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo 2020 -- sponsored by bodies including the Japan Fashion Week Organization and the Mainichi Newspapers Co.

Models walking down the runway showcased various kimonos, from an outfit that looks like a mini wrap dress to those displaying unique designs, such as characters from the popular "Attack on Titan" manga series. Yoshiki wrote one of the opening theme songs of the anime adaptation.

"By introducing elements of anime, I hope to spread the culture of kimono among young people and to overseas," explained the rock star, whose parents ran a kimono shop in Chiba Prefecture east of Tokyo.

Yoshiki, who earlier announced that he donated 10 million yen to victims of powerful Typhoon Faxai that wreaked destruction on Chiba Prefecture in September, also engaged in volunteer work in the region. He commented, "I would like to do everything I can (to support victims of Typhoon Hagibis, too)."
