FUKUOKA -- Department stores and supermarkets in the southwestern Japan prefecture of Fukuoka started discount sales Oct. 24 to celebrate the third consecutive victory of the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks in the Nippon Professional Baseball Nippon Series championship the day before.

Kimie Takada, 39, visiting with her mother from the prefectural city of Chikushino, said, "I was worried about the latter part of yesterday's game. But the home run by Yurisbel Gracial and good guidance by manager Kimiyasu Kudo helped the team."
