FUJIMINO, Saitama -- The upper body of an infant was discovered in a drugstore toilet in this city north of Tokyo on Nov. 2.

According to Saitama Prefectural Police investigators, a female customer told a shop employee just past 1 p.m. that the toilet was clogged. A repair worker came to the store that night, and found the baby's remains when detaching the toilet at around 8:30 p.m. A portion of the umbilical cord was apparently still attached to the body.

The infant's sex and time of death are currently unknown. Police are analyzing store security camera footage as part of their probe into the incident.
