A sea of clouds floats above a valley at Kutsuki Onyudani in Takashima, Shiga Prefecture, on the morning of Nov. 7, 2019, rolling in the sky like waves when blown by the wind. In a bid to get a good view of the clouds floating below them, some 30 photographers flocked to a forest path, roughly 1.5 kilometers away from the Onyu mountain pass with an altitude of 820 meters straddling the prefectural border with Fukui in western Japan. Areas near the pass experienced temperatures as low as 2 degrees Celsius in the morning. Cotton-like clouds shone in pink following sunrise. The scenery can currently be enjoyed along with the colorful autumn leaves, but the Biwako Takashima Tourist Association says the delay in fall foliage will put off its peak viewing period until 7-10 days from now.
