OSAKA -- Thieves made off with a small fortune in merchandise from a local outlet of New York-based streetwear brand Supreme early on the morning of Dec. 16.
According to police, the alarm at the Supreme shop in Osaka's Nishi Ward was tripped at about 5:10 a.m. Officers arrived at the scene to find a front window smashed and dozens of items missing including T-shirts and sweatshirts, with total losses estimated in the millions of yen.
According to the Osaka Prefectural Police's Nishi Station, much of the stolen merchandise had been on display near the entrance. The cash registers located in the back of the first floor and store office on the building's second floor appeared undisturbed. There was apparently no one at the shop at the time of the robbery.
The Supreme Streetwear outlet is on this western Japan city's "Orange Street," a commercial thoroughfare lined with many clothing and home furnishing stores.
