Japan Photo Journal: Playing the field

Visitors stroll through a field of blooming rapeseed blossoms at the "Fukufuku no sato" farmers' market in the city of Itoshima, Fukuoka Prefecture, in southwestern Japan, on Feb. 6, 2020. About 40,000 plants, which grew to around 1-meter tall, were planted in rice fields after harvesting. A scaffolding tower has been set up as viewing spot in the field and many visitors take photographs from there with smartphones when JR Chikuhi Line trains bass by. The rapeseed blossoms will be in full bloom around the middle of March, according to the facility. Visitors can pick the flowers and fill a plastic bag with them for 100 yen.
