Baby girl, mother in southwest Japan infected with coronavirus

FUKUOKA -- A baby girl and her mother in her 20s were found infected with the novel coronavirus, officials of this southwestern Japan city said on March 30.

According to the Fukuoka Municipal Government, the baby has shown mild symptoms, while her mother has no symptoms. They live in the city's Minami Ward with the woman's father in his 60s, who was confirmed to have contracted the virus on March 28.

Also in Fukuoka Prefecture, a man in his 60s in the city of Kitakyushu's Kokurakita Ward was found infected with the novel virus strain.

In neighboring Kumamoto Prefecture, a woman in her 50s and another in her 70s, who are residents of the city of Kumamoto's Minami Ward and Nishi Ward, respectively, were found to be carrying the virus.
