OKAZAKI, Aichi -- A local rubber seal maker in this central Japan city is selling Japanese-style seals themed on Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic events, which have been postponed until 2021.

The manufacturer, Umemoto, designed 18 seal varieties, featuring various sports as well as torch relay images. Customers can add their names in kanji characters if they request. Each seal measures 1.25 centimeters in diameter. The seals come in five colors (black, red, yellow, blue and gray) and are priced at 1,400 yen apiece excluding tax.

For the time being the company is making just 100 of the seals. Takeshige Umemoto, head of the company, commented, "2021 will mark exactly 10 years since the Great East Japan Earthquake, so it's more suitable to have the Olympics then in terms of labeling it the reconstruction Olympics." He hopes buyers will use them to stamp symbols of their favorite sports on letters they send to others.
