TOKYO -- Ueno Zoological Gardens in the capital's Taito Ward posted a special video of its giant panda Xiang Xiang on its website on June 12 to mark the cuddly crowd-pleaser's third birthday, as the zoo remains shuttered due to the novel coronavirus.

According to the zoo, Xiang Xiang now weighs 86.4 kilograms, which is about 588 times heavier than when she was born at the zoo in 2017.

The movie shows Xiang Xiang eating a special birthday "cake" made from soybeans, corn and rice flour, and decorated with ice balls colored with vegetable and fruit juices by zookeepers.

The zoo is scheduled to reopen on June 23.
