YOKOHAMA -- Kanagawa Prefectural Police made an onsite arrest of a Tokyo municipal assemblyman on Aug. 6 for indecent exposure in a parking lot in the city of Kawasaki.

Daisuke Akasaka, 48, a member of the local assembly in Tokyo's Minato Ward, is suspected to have exposed his genitals at a parking lot in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, south of the capital, at around 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 6, according to Kanagawa Prefectural Police's Miyamae Police Station.

Police said the suspect approached a group of four people, including a woman under 20, who were walking near the parking lot, and asked them, "Do you want to have a good part time job?" While one of the four who found the man suspicious rushed to a nearby police box, he allegedly dropped his pants in front of the remaining three.

The suspect is denying the allegations against him by saying, "I didn't show anything as I covered it with my right hand and pulled my pants down with my left hand."

According to the website of the local assembly in Tokyo's Minato Ward, Akasaka had been elected four times and belonged to the faction of the "Tomin First no Kai (Tokyoites First) and Japan Innovation Party." The Japan Innovation Party website lists him as the head of Tokyo's first electoral district branch who will become the political party's official candidate for the next House of Representatives election.
