Tokyo sees 276 more coronavirus infections on Sept. 10

TOKYO -- Japan's capital registered 276 more cases of the coronavirus on Sept. 10, topping 200 for the first time since Sept. 3, the metropolitan government announced.

    The new infections came after Tokyo saw 149 new cases on Sept. 9. The total for Sept. 3 reached 211. The daily average in Tokyo for the first week of September stood at 147.4.

    Tokyo saw a monthly high of 8,126 new cases of the coronavirus in August, averaging out at about 262.1 cases per day. A total of 6,466 cases, or an average of about 208.6 per day, were logged in Tokyo in July.

    The capital has recorded over 22,000 infections of the new virus in total -- the most among Japan's 47 prefectures.
