BERLIN (Kyodo) -- Japan midfielder Daichi Kamada has extended his contract with Eintracht Frankfurt through June 2023, the Bundesliga club said Wednesday.

The 24-year-old netted 10 goals in all competitions last term, including his first in the German top flight and six in the Europa League, as his team reached the last 16 of the tournament.

A native of Ehime Prefecture, Kamada transferred to Frankfurt from J-League first division side Sagan Tosu in the summer of 2017.

He spent the 2018-19 season on loan to Sint-Truiden in Belgium, where he scored 16 goals in 36 games across all competitions.

Kamada, whose existing deal was to expire at the end of this season, can also operate as a forward and has scored one goal in four international appearances for Japan.
