TOKYO -- Toy manufacturer Bandai Spirits Co. released a one-to-one scale plastic model of Nissin Foods' "Cup Noodle" on Sept. 18, the day the world's first instant noodles in a cup debuted in 1971.

The Cup Noodle plastic model is sold as part of a series that covers hit items by various companies in the Showa and Heisei eras (1926-2019). When 62 parts are assembled, the Cup Noodle model will be the same size as the real thing, though the manufacturer is asking consumers not to pour hot water into the cup or try eating the noodles as they're not edible.

The suggested retail price is 2,420 yen including tax and it can be purchased at toy and other stores in Japan.
