TOKYO -- Tokyo recorded 98 new cases of the coronavirus on Sept. 21, the metropolitan government announced.
The new cases came after Tokyo saw 162 infections on Sept. 20. The daily average in Tokyo for the first week of September was 147.4, climbed to 176.3 for the second week of the month, and stood at 174.71 in the third.
Tokyo has recorded over 24,000 infections of the new virus altogether -- more than any other prefecture in Japan. There were 27 patients in Tokyo hospitalized with severe COVID-19 symptoms as of Sept. 20.
