Tennis: Yoshihito Nishioka downs 19th seed, advances to French Open 2nd round

PARIS (Kyodo) -- Japan's Yoshihito Nishioka booked his ticket to the second round of the French Open on Monday with a straight-sets win over Felix Auger-Aliassime.

    The world No. 52 from Japan took 2 hours, 32 minutes to upset the Canadian 19th seed 7-5, 6-3, 6-3.

    The victory sends Nishioka, 25, into the second round at Roland Garros for the second straight year.

    Nishioka's next opponent is Frenchman Hugo Gaston, who won his opening-round matchup against compatriot Maxime Janvier 7-6(5), 6-4, 6-3.
