Economic revitalization minister Yasutoshi Nishimura (Mainichi/Daiki Takikawa)

TOKYO -- An envelope containing what appeared to be a boxcutter blade and addressed to economic revitalization minister Yasutoshi Nishimura arrived at the Cabinet Office on Oct. 2, police have told the Mainichi Shimbun.

According to officers at the Metropolitan Police Department's Kojimachi station in central Tokyo, the envelope contained a paper note reading "Die, minister Nishimura!" The sender was listed only as "a minister Nishimura fan."

Nishimura's representatives have submitted a complaint to police and the case is being investigated as intimidation.
