TOKYO -- Japan's capital recorded another 102 novel coronavirus infections on Oct. 26, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government announced.
The new infections followed the announcements of 124 infections in Tokyo on Oct. 25, which brought the total number of infections in the capital to date over 30,000.
Tokyo saw 4,921 cases of the coronavirus in September, or an average of about 164 per day, and a monthly high of 8,126 new infections in August. An average of 161.6 infections per day were recorded in the capital in the first week of October, rising to 181 in the second. The average in the third week fell to 171.7 new cases per day.
Tokyo has recorded more positive coronavirus tests than any of Japan's 46 other prefectures. There were 28 patients hospitalized in Tokyo with severe COVID-19 symptoms as of Oct. 25.
