95% of eateries, shops in 6 Tokyo areas complying with request to close by 8 p.m.

TOKYO -- Some 95% of restaurants and shops in six areas in the capital are confirmed to be complying with requests to close by 8 p.m., according to a Tokyo Metropolitan Government survey.
The metropolitan government announced the survey findings on Jan. 20. Tokyo Metropolitan Government officials visually confirmed on Jan. 18 and 19 if businesses in the Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Shibuya, Shimbashi, Kichijochi and Tachikawa areas were operating beyond the requested time.
Of the total of 2,027 businesses they observed, 1,927 were closed from 8 p.m. The metropolitan government will continue patrolling the same areas and announcing the figures.
