Fire burns 11 houses in central Tokyo, 2 women slightly injured

TOKYO -- A fire broke out in central Tokyo early on March 1, burning 11 houses and other structures and apparently leaving two women with minor injuries, police said.

    According to the Tokyo Fire Department and other sources, a fire was reported at around 5:05 a.m., and the flames are believed to have originated in a vacant two-story house in Koto Ward.

    Two women, one in her 90s and one in her 60s, were hurt, but their injuries are believed to be minor. The fire scene is a residential area on the west side of Ojima Station on the Toei Subway Line.
