Protest against Tokyo Olympics held in front of main stadium as test event goes ahead

TOKYO -- A protest against the Tokyo Olympics was held on May 9 in front of the National Stadium in the capital's Shinjuku Ward, the games' main venue, as a track-and-field test event for the Olympics was underway inside the stadium.

    Participants in the protest chanted slogans such as "Save people's lives" and "Medical care takes priority."

    Participants voiced their discontent through microphones while announcements and music accompanying the test event were heard from the stadium.
