TOKYO -- To commemorate the 55th anniversary of the "Ultraman" TV series, a pop-up cafe opened on July 16 in the Tokyo Solamachi retail complex at the foot of Tokyo Skytree.
"Ultraman Cafe: Go Beyond 55th Anniversary," located in the capital's Sumida Ward, is designed to give customers a sense they are in the popular TV series' world. It will trade on the complex's first floor until Aug. 29.
The menu is themed on series characters including from the original "Ultraman" (1966), "Ultraman Tiga" (1996), the latest "Ultraman Trigger" (2021), and popular monsters including Alien Baltan and Dada.
The menu includes three kinds of Ultraman-themed burgers at 1,760 yen (about $16) each, the Alien Baltan Pancake for 1,430 yen (about $13), and Ultraman Caffe Latte, which features a foam design of the TV show's title card, for 990 yen (about $9). The cafe also has merchandise including a limited number of plastic figures.
