Judoka Naohisa Takato wins Japan's first gold at Tokyo Games

TOKYO -- Japanese judoka Naohisa Takato has won gold in the men's 60-kg judo event on July 24, the first gold medal for team Japan at the Tokyo Games.

    Takato, who won bronze in the 2016 Rio Games, beat Yang Yung-wei of Chinese Taipei in the final. This is Japan's first gold medal in the men's 60-kg judo event since the 2004 Athens Olympics, when Tadahiro Nomura won gold.
