To commemorate the Sept. 3 release of the 100th volume of the "Shukan Shonen Jump" series "One Piece," The Mainichi Newspapers will release a special "The Mainichi World Economic Journal" tabloid edition with editorial cooperation from Shueisha Inc.

Eiichiro Oda's One Piece, the story of Monkey D. Luffy and his companions' adventures as he strives to become King of the Pirates, has been serialized since 1997 and is one of Japan's most famous manga, with a sea of fans both at home and abroad. It has sold over 490 million copies worldwide.

Now, the "World Economic Newspaper" published in the series by newspaper king Morgans is set to debut as a real periodical -- The Mainichi World Economic Journal. With a focus on the approaching climax of the Wano Country Arc, the paper traces the Straw Hats Pirates' epic journey up to One Piece's 100th volume.

The newspaper also features a trove information, including profiles of each of the Straw Hat Pirates led by Luffy, along with other major characters, plus a character chart, a historic timeline by year and information on the One Piece 100 We Are One project. This special newspaper packed with content has something not just for passionate fans, but kids and adults alike, too.

The Mainichi World Economic Journal will go on sale from Sept. 3, at a cost of 490 yen including tax. Copies can be purchased from locations including The Mainichi Newspapers' licensed distributors, convenience stores and station shops in the prefectures of Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba and Saitama (excluding some areas and shops).
