The 100th volume of Japanese manga series "One Piece" has sold over 1.17 million copies since its Sept. 3 release, music information provider Oricon Inc. said Sept. 9.

The latest volume of Eiichiro Oda's hugely popular manga series ranked at the top of Oricon's weekly single-volume manga sales as of Sept. 13. The latest sales figures mean that every volume of One Piece has sold over 1 million copies.

One Piece tells the story of Monkey D. Luffy and his companions' adventures on the seas as he strives to become King of the Pirates. Its serialized installments have sold over 490 million copies worldwide, and hopes are high that the release of its 100th volume will bring it to the combined 500 million mark.
