YAMAGUCHI -- A teacher at high school in west Japan has had his pay cut by 10% for one month for showing an indecent video on an electronic blackboard, education officials announced on Oct. 22.

According to the Yamaguchi Prefectural Board of Education, on Sept. 30 the 57-year-old English teacher at the prefectural Tabe High School in the city of Shimonoseki connected his personal tablet to the board to show students material for the class. Instead, he accidentally showed them a video of a woman naked from the waist up, saved in his cloud storage. The 14 third-year students in the class reportedly saw the video.

He reported the incident to the school that day. In response, the school held an assembly and a guardians' meeting to explain how the incident happened, and to apologize. The teacher is reported to have said, "I wish to apologize for causing distress, and for damaging trust."
