OSAKA -- A "Santa diver" clad in a bright red suit has been entertaining visitors from inside a tank at Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan in this west Japan city.

At the aquarium, a staff member who is usually in charge of feeding fish dresses up as Santa Claus and appears in the "Pacific Ocean" tank housing two whale sharks twice a day. Waving at visitors from inside the tank, posing for photos and playing games of rock-paper-scissors with children, the diver livens up the aquarium's fun atmosphere.

The annual event, which began in 1993, is being held for the 29th time, and will continue through Dec. 26. Santa divers can be seen for 30 minutes at a time from 1:15 p.m. and 3:20 p.m. For more information, please call the aquarium at 06-6576-5501.
