Japan Photo Journal: Fukuoka park lit up in Ukraine flag colors to protest Russian invasion
(Mainichi Japan)
The "Nakanoshima" part of Ohori Park in Fukuoka's Chuo Ward is seen illuminated with blue and yellow lights on March 9, 2022. The Fukuoka Prefectural Government began to light up the park in the Ukrainian national flag colors on the day to protest Russia's invasion of the country and to show its anti-war resolve. The move follows a resolution adopted by the Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly, to protest the invasion and seek perpetual peace. The park is lit up between sunset and 10 p.m., and the event will run for the immediate future. The exterior of the former "Kihinkan" hall, a nationally designated important cultural property in the same ward, is also being illuminated with blue and yellow lights at night.
