2 members of idol group Momoiro Clover Z named '1-day stationmasters' near Tokyo

FUJIMI, Saitama -- Two members of the popular female idol group Momoiro Clover Z were appointed "one-day stationmasters" at a train station in this eastern Japan city, north of Tokyo, on April 8, and their songs will be used as train melodies at three stations in the city for about a year.

The group, whose name is commonly abbreviated as Momoclo, became the city of Fujimi's PR special ambassadors after they held a concert in the city in 2017. Members Ayaka Sasaki, 25, and Reni Takagi, 28, were appointed one-day stationmasters at Fujimino Station on Tobu Railway Co.'s Tojo Line to commemorate the 50th anniversary since the municipality was given city status.

Four of Momoclo's songs, including "Hashire! -- ZZver. --" and "Ikuze! Kaito Shojo -- ZZver. --," began to be played at Fujimino, Tsuruse and Mizuhodai stations on the Tojo Line on April 8 as trains were about to depart.

Showing up at a platform in stationmaster uniforms, Sasaki and Takagi were all smiles as they waved at passengers and gave the go sign to a departing train with a special name plate adorned with the group members' photos.

Sasaki commented, "I feel that our songs being played (as jingles) is proof of our good relationship with Fujimi," while Takagi said, "We'll be happy if people who use the stations have a wonderful day."

The name plate with Momoclo members' photos is attached to one train, and its operation will continue until the end of May.
