The woman's wounds appear to have been inflicted with a knife, leading police to probe possible family trouble behind the apparent murder.

According to the prefectural police's Shimizu Police Station, the married couple lived alone and their son was visiting at the time of the incident. The victim's husband received minor cuts on the hand when he tried to stop his son from stabbing himself. Police intend to question the son after he has recovered. Police will also autopsy Ishikawa to determine the exact cause of death.
